Ms. Jonassen has been in the hospitality industry since 1986. In 1987, she graduated with a B.A. in Hotel/Restaurant Administration from Washington State University. She then began her career with AW Management in Newport Beach, CA. Ms. Jonassen completed a Management Training Program and went on to become the Assistant Manager of the Embassy Suites Hotel in Baton Rouge, LA and General Manager of the Embassy Suites Hotel in S. San Francisco.
Returning to the Pacific Northwest, Ms. Jonassen took a position with Windsor Capital Group at the Embassy Suites in Bellevue, WA. In 1991, Ms. Jonassen joined Dimension Development Company as the General Manager for the Homewood Suites Hotel in Tukwila, WA and later as Area Manager also overseeing San Jose, CA and Santa Fe, NM. The Homewood Suites Hotel, Tukwila, while under her management, won Promus Corporation’s Homewood Suites of the year in 1992 and again in 1993. In 1997 she joined Northwest Hospitality Group during the development stages of the Embassy Suites Hotel, Portland, OR and Homewood Suites Hotel, Vancouver, WA. She took on the challenging task of General Manager during the pre-opening stages of the renovation of the historical Multnomah Hotel into an Embassy Suites. After the hotel was sold she remained with Northwest Hospitality Group and became the General Manager of the Homewood Suites, Vancouver, WA. Ms. Jonassen is also Regional Vice President currently overseeing the Staybridge Suites, Portland, Oregon and the Alderwood Inn, Portland, OR. As General Manager for the Homewood Suites, Vancouver, WA, Ms, Jonassen has guided her team to achieve a number of top awards with Hilton, including 1999’s Homewood Suites of the Year and 2000’s Pinnacle Hotel of the Year. She also received the 2000 General Manager Merit Award and in 2001 her hotel received the Top Guest Satisfaction Award.
As Regional Vice President, Ms. Jonassen oversees all operational aspects of Northwest Hospitality Group’s owner and managed properties in the Western Region. Her responsibilities include sales and marketing, human resource management, technology, training, physical resource management, capital planning, refurbishment and modernization, guest relations, business plan development and profitability.
