IMIC Hotels is a leading hotel owner and operator in the Southeast, with 33 hotels currently in operation. According to Hotel Business 2001, we ranked 47 out of the 100 Top Hotel Management Companies. Between 1997 and 1999, we opened 13 new hotels in SC, NC, FL, and TN (existing hotels also in GA and VA). We are continuing to expand through new development and/or management contracts, like in 2001 with a Hampton Inn, Sleep Inn, Holiday Inn, Ramada Inn, Comfort Suites, Suburban Lodge, and StowAway Storage (storage facility). The brands we are currently affiliated with are Sheraton, Ramada, Hampton Inns, Comfort Inns, Comfort Suites, Sleep Inns, Quality Suites, Wingate Inn, Suburban Lodge, and Holiday Inn, all of which have received outstanding scores. We also operate two independent hotels (non-franchised). We are one of the larger hotel operators in the SE, yet the company is run like a smaller operation with close relations with Operations (even the President), Sales & Marketing & Advertising, Human Resources, Training, Quality Assurance, Design & Development, and Finance & Accounting. E. L. "Bert" Pooser is the founder and President of IMIC Hotels. He is an active and aggressive developer, and well-known and thought of in our industry by many leaders of the large hotel companies and franchises, and with the leaders in state legislature for SC. He was recently awarded "Hotelier of the Year" for 2002 for the state of SC, as well as "Hotel Leader of the Year" for 2002 by the University of South Carolina's school of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management, where he is active on many boards to promote and grow the college for our industry.
In the past year, we have promoted management employees in 11 of the 30 hotels, to either General Manager, Regional Manager, Food & Beverage Director, Assistant Manager, and/or Director of Sales/Catering. With our growth, the opportunities have been endless.
