Chef-owned and operated,Hominy Grill is located in downtown Charleston, South Carolina. We specialize in regional dishes, simply prepared and beautifully presented using local seasonal ingredients. Since the restaurant's inception as a 38-seat breakfast & lunch spot in 1996, Hominy Grill now serves breakfast, lunch, dinner & weekend brunch. We have added an outdoor patio providing an additional 30 seats and have launched a lunchtime delivery and corporate catering operation which operates from a separate location a block away. Hominy Grill is extremely popular -- locally beloved and nationally recognized by such publications as the New York Times, Elle Decor, Fine Cooking and a host of other publications. Our revenues have quadrupled since opening.
We are located in Charleston, South Carolina, which is considered as one of the most desirable places to live in America. Surrounded by beaches, the Charleston penninsula boasts some of the finest jewels of architectural preservation in America. The restaurant itself is located in an historic Charleston "single house" built in 1861 and still boasts the original tin ceiling and hardwood floors. We have a fairly small but rapidly growing staff. Due to the size of the restaurant, both back and front of house employees are able to gain valuable hands-on experience in the many aspects of operating a restuarant. Our management employees are rewarded for performance with regular bonuses: both year-end and during the year, especially during the busiest season. Average bonus was around 3 - 4% of salary last year. We provide a number of other performance incentives including paid paternity/maternity leave (to longer-serving managers), paid vacation, gift certificates to area businesses and employee travel. We are also implementing health insurance and 401k plans. |

We have received considerable acclaim in a number of national publications including feature articles in The London Financial Times, The New York Times, Atlanta Journal Constitution, Elle Decor and Fine Cooking Magazine. |
