THE O'CALLAGHAN HOTEL GROUP STORY
The Mont Clare Hotel, Dublin, was previously three Georgian Houses on Clare Street made into a family run Hotel. In 1989 it was completly refurbished and the adjoining premises once a bank was demolished and the 70 bedroomed hotel we see today opened. In 1997 the Hotel was once again completely refurbished maintaining a high level of product for our clients. The Gallery Bar opens throughout the day offering a carvery lunch and evening food in a relaxed, comfortable setting. Goldsmiths Restaruant offers traditional Irish Cuisine, along with a Brasserie style menu. The Mont Clare has a number of Conference and Banqueting suites available for events throughout the year.
The Davenport Hotel, Dublin which was orginally the Merrion Hall was built in 1863 by the Plymouth Brethern at a cost of £10,000. This was used as a place of prayer with regular Sunday school in the hall. The building fell into disrepair and was disused until 1991. Previous to that it was used to make the film "Hear My Song" about the life of the great Irish Tenor Joseph Lock. In 1991 it was burnt to the ground and all that was left was the imposing facade. In March 1993 The Davenport Hotel was opened as a premier delux hotel at the cost of £10.5 million. The Davenport has 116 guest rooms including 2 suites. The Presidents Bar, a club style lounge bar along with Lanyons Restaurant which serves a French/Traditional Irish menu are located on the ground floor. The Gandon Suite and Boardroom are used for Conference and Banqueting events. This hotel is targeted at the 5 Star market attracting international clientele for business and leisure.
The Alexander Hotel, Dublin opened in Late April 1997 with 103 guest rooms including 5 suites. Caravaggios Restaurant is of an Italian/Mediterranean Flavour with the club style Winners Bar adjacent on the ground floor. The Aston, Annesley and the Rooftop suites are all available for Conference and Banqueting events. The Hotel like The Davenport is targeted at the 5 Star market attracting International Business and Leisure guests.
The Eliott Hotel, located in Gibraltar, was purchased by The Hotel Group in November 1996. This is a 123 bedroomed hotel including a penthouse suite which is located in the heart of the town centre. At one time a Holiday Inn Hotel this property has large appointed bedrooms with a rooftop swimming pool and bar with wonderful views of the Mediterranean.
The Stephen's Green Hotel opened in September 1999 with 64 guestrooms and 11 suites. Centrally located the hotel is within a moments reach of the heart of the city and St. Stephens Green, which Dubliners have enjoyed for over 200 years. The Pie Dish Restaurant and The Magic Glasses Bar both draw their title from the much neglected writings of one of Ireland's forgotten playwrights, George Fitzmaurice, who once lived in the Georgian buildings now a part of The Stephen's Green Hotel. |
