Tamsen McCracken received her undergraduate degree in Politics from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1980 and her law degree, cum laude, from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1985. She began her career as a transactional real estate lawyer first with the firm of Miller, Starr and Regalia and then, through its partial merger, with Graham & James (now Squire Sanders & Dempsey). She left Graham & James in 1991 to work as General Counsel for a real estate developer in Santa Rosa, California where she was responsible for various joint venture, ground lease and purchase and sale transactions. In 1996, Ms. McCracken accepted a position with Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants as Vice President and Assistant General Counsel where she was responsible for the legal aspects of all day-to-day operations for its many hotels and restaurants. She participated in that company’s growth by working on many hotel and property acquisitions, as well as third-party management agreements; in her eight and one-half years there, the company more than doubled in size and expanded its operations nationally. Ms. McCracken joined Stanford Hotels in 2005.
