Martin Malk is a CPA and Certified Hotel Administrator with over 35 years experience in public accounting and the hospitality industry. Martin moved to the United States from South Africa in 1978, beginning his career in the hospitality industry in San Diego, where he served as Controller and CFO of the 700-room Hotel del Coronado until its sale in 1997. He started providing outsource financial services to 30 different hotel companies including Stanford Hotels, Wyndham, Radisson, and medium size hotel companies operating under the flags of the major brands throughout the United States and the Caribbean. His services included acting Interim Controller, providing Internal Audit services, and turn around work in a complex and/or disintegrating situation to bring about positive change quickly.
Martin has been a guest lecturer at the Cornell University Hotel School, Michigan State University Hotel School and San Diego State University Hotel Management Program. He has conducted hotel financial seminars, convention presentations, and financial management articles published in hospitality industry publications. He has served on the financial committee of the American Hotel & Motel Association, and the committee to update the 9th edition of the Uniform System of Accounts for Hotels & Motels.
