It’s here where you’ll find the Federal-style charm of the Admiral Fell Inn. With crackling fireplaces, a cozy pub, and comfy rooms overlooking the Belgian-block streets of the country’s oldest maritime community, the Admiral Fell Inn is about as snug as you can get.
Grab yourself a nice, warm drink and cozy up to our crackling fireplace. The Admiral Fell Inn is the perfect place to enjoy Baltimore's maritime history. A renovated urban inn in the heart of Fell's Point, The Admiral Fell Inn is comprised of eight adjoining buildings - some of which date back more than 200 years.
To Baltimore in the year 1797; a seaport village teems with swarthy sailors, hoodlums, and business folk of all kinds. The row homes that line its narrow, cobbled streets promise safety to the hopeful immigrants who live and work here. This is one of Baltimore's oldest and most mysterious neighborhoods. This is Fell's Point.
Here, centuries later, The Admiral Fell Inn is situated among the enchanted life and lore that still inhabit Baltimore's modern-day Fell's Point. A glorious, European-style boutique hotel, The Admiral Fell Inn boasts stately rooms, a cozy pub, and the award-winning Hamilton's restaurant. Nestled between Fell's Point's galleries, shops, and eateries, The Admiral Fell Inn is a hotel that helps make this area one of Baltimore's most charming.
F&B The Admiral Fell Inn is where you'll find the award-winning Hamilton's. Hamilton's offers extraordinary New American cuisine, nestled among the cobbled streets of Fell's Point - one of Baltimore's favorite neighborhoods. And don't forget our famous Sunday Champagne Brunch, served in The Admiral Fell Inn's rooftop room. Lunch and dinner:
Discover why Baltimore is known as Charm City. You could be walking through the quaint streets of an historic neighborhood in the morning and enjoying the excitement of Baltimore's busy Inner Harbor in the afternoon. An eclectic mix of shops, attractions, museums, and restaurants, Baltimore is filled with friendly, almost familiar, faces of folk who are always ready to chat and make you feel at home. Experience the comfort of small-town hospitality combined with the excitement of the big city. It's all here in Baltimore.
Hotel History On the Waterfront: 100 Years and Counting It's amazing the difference a century makes. In 1900, to stay in the building that is now Baltimore's Admiral Fell Inn, guests had to be deloused. But that was a better alternative to being shanghaied. Travelers were grateful to stay in one of the 28 rooms. The building was a safe haven for merchant seamen coming into the bustling port of Fell's Point, which at the turn of the 20th century was a rough waterfront neighborhood filled with warehouses, saloons, and brothels.
The central building of The Admiral Fell Inn was opened on 3rd December 1900. The property, then known as The Anchorage, was built by the Port Mission Women's Auxiliary as a place "to maintain under Christian influence a boarding house for seamen, a home away from home, a social and recreational center where the seafarer might find a safe refuge while in port."
The Port Mission encouraged seamen to join a church and stay in the safe boarding house, which first started in a smaller location and moved to the corner of South Broadway and Thames Street to accommodate more sailors. As more space was needed, the buildings beside The Anchorage were connected to it.
In 1985, after a total renovation, the original Anchorage buildings were re-opened as The Admiral Fell Inn, a bed-and-breakfast inn with 40 rooms. In 1996, the Inn finished an expansion into adjoining buildings for a total of 80 rooms and a new rooftop meeting and banquet facility. The Inn's respect to the building's original architecture, historic integrity, and ambience gained it a charter membership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Historic Hotels of America program.
In 2003, guests to The Admiral Fell Inn have a significantly different experience than their century-past predecessors. The Inn is designed as an intimate environment, complemented by total attention to service, to create an aura of comfortable elegance, ideal for the traveling businessperson as well as the vacationing couple. |
