 Property Description

Everglades National Park is one of the country's largest parks and a treasure of biological diversity. The park was established in 1947 by President Harry S. Truman to protect the unique and fragile ecosystem. Located less than an hour from the Miami metropolitan area, this subtropical wilderness is a combination of one and a half million acres of sawgrass prairie, shimmering waters, and mangrove forests sheltering a tremendous spectrum of wild life. Animal life is varied and includes the endangered American crocodile, alligators, bobcats, deer, dolphins, and a wide variety of fish. In addition, more than 300 species of birds winter in the park.

There is no better place to base your exploration of the Everglades than at Flamingo Lodge Marina & Outpost Resort. Flamingo is located on the southern tip of Florida on the north shore of Florida Bay and offers the only "in-the-park" accommodations in Everglades National Park. Here you'll find everything you need: 102 lodge rooms, 24 cottages, houseboat rentals, meeting facilities for up to 100, camping store, canoes, skiffs, kayaks, fishing equipment, a swimming pool, naturalist-guided boat tours, and Everglades gifts and souvenirs. When your appetite kicks in, our Flamingo Restaurant and Buttonwood Patio Café both offer a relaxed atmosphere to indulge in the savory flavors of the region.

Flamingo Lodge is open year-round. The peak season is during the winter months, operating in full service from November through mid April. Our off-season is from May through October. During the peak season the National Park Service also provides walking tours, narrated programs at the Everglades Amphitheater, and rangers are available for questions at the Flamingo and Ernest Coe Visitor Center.
