Why People Like to Work for Us |
 |
The Meyer Jabara Journey ......... It began in 1996 with a book entitled “The Flight of the Buffalo” and a desire to encourage human development and growth. Growth, not just in the number of hotels in our portfolio, but more importantly, the idea and philosophy that everyone wants to perform at higher levels, learn, and become a better person and a better associate.. The Journey principles are the foundation of everything we do in all aspects of our daily lives .... empowerment, achieving excellence, sharing responsibility, removing obstacles, taking ownership, peer to peer coaching, learning by teaching and realizing the first discovery, “I am the problem”.
All of us want to be good leaders. The Journey principles constantly ask the question “what am I doing, or not doing, to hinder growth and development of myself, my associates, my hotel... am I the problem?” The desire to be great performers is inside each and every one of us. Meyer Jabara’s task in leading a hotel company is to create and cultivate an environment of learning and an opportunity to succeed.
The Journey is not something that Meyer Jabara only talks about. It is a process, a philosophy, developed and nurtured over time. It is in place and it does work. It is visible in our hotel guest satisfaction scores, our increased profitability, reduced associate and management turnover and an overall atmosphere of respect for one another. It is our foundation and the differentiator which has kept us in the forefront of the hotel industry. |
