 Property Description

Dunton Hot Springs is an exclusive luxury resort with rustic southwest Colorado character and international artistic flare, situated in the heart of an extraordinary alpine valley.

All Dunton’s eleven guest cabins are authentic nineteenth century hand-hewn log buildings, restored by local and Native American craftsmen who specialize in traditional building techniques. No two are alike, and each bears a distinct individual character and history. All are furnished with custom luxury amenities, and reveal splendid views that change throughout the day with the shifting colors of sunlight on the mountains. All are less than five minutes walk to the bar, dining area, and adjoining conference facility of the saloon, the hot springs in the teepee and bath house, massage and yoga rooms in the Pony Express Stop, the bank of the West Fork of the Dolores river, the waterfall, and the library. Wireless broadband internet, videoconferencing, and digital image production are available as well.

Beyond the comfort of the town proper … the great outdoors - boasting some of the most breathtaking, rugged, pristine and surprisingly accessible terrain on the planet, with sweeping stands of aspen, 14,000 foot mountain peaks, alpine springs, rivers, lakes, and lush meadows. Activities range from a heavenly picnic-for-two to heli-skiing. Enjoy horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, climbing, snow shoeing, cross and back country skiing, and world-class fly fishing. Day trips offered include river rafting and kayaking, visits to Anasazi archeological sites or nearby vineyards, Monument Valley, the Canyons of the Ancients, and Mesa Verde National Park.

Everyone’s favorite activity however, requires little effort … soaking in one of the three hot springs on the property. The large pool inside the exquisite bathhouse, the outdoor pool with majestic views of Mt. Wilson and El Diente, and “The Source” under the immense ochre teepee, each unique, and all extraordinary.

Our kitchen is organic and creative. Our chefs work closely with a network of local organic farms and ranches to source the ingredients for their imaginative and healthy cuisine, including organic peaches, pears, plums, local grass-fed lamb, and wild Boletus and Chanterelle mushrooms. Accompany the excellent food with first growth Bordeauxs from our extensive wine list, which includes Merlot, Syrah and Chardonnay from Sutcliffe Vineyard, Colorado’s preeminent and Dunton’s companion vineyard, located in nearby McElmo Canyon.

Dunton Hot Springs is located in southwestern Colorado 30 miles southeast of Telluride, and is open all year for individual and group bookings. Rates start from $300 per person per day, and the entire town can be rented exclusively for $15,000 per day for up to 42 people.
