Michael Shular was born in Sevier County in 1946. After serving in the army, he returned to Sevier county to become a real estate broker in 1968. By 1970 he owned his own real estate company Shular realty in Pigeon Forge, specializing in residential development and also commercial property. In 1975 Mr. Shular purchased his first hotel a 63 room property located in Newport, TN.
Mr Shular still owns this motel which nows has 111 rooms and is a Best western. He now owns 14 hotels located in 4 states and a new 250 condo-hotel located in Pigeon Forge ,TN.
Mr. Shular also develops upscale residential subdivisions, owns an outdoor billboard company with 60 faces, has a construction company that builds hotels, condominiums, and commercial buildings. He has successfully developed over 20 subdivisions since 1972.
