 Company Description

Hebrew SeniorLife (HSL) is a 100+ year-old organization committed to maximizing the quality of life of seniors through an integrated network of housing, health care, research and teaching programs in the Greater Boston area.

It is the largest nonprofit provider of senior housing and health care in New England. Serving over 5,000 seniors each year, HSL’s facilities and programs are open to people of all religions, races, creeds and ethnic origins.

HSL is also home to the renowned Institute for Aging Research, the nation's largest gerontological research facility in an applied setting, with a grant portfolio of over $48 million. The Center ranks in the top 10% of all U.S. institutions receiving NIH funding. HSL also provides an extensive program to train the next generation of geriatric health professionals - more than 500 each year - and serves as the headquarters for the Harvard Geriatric Fellowship Program, one of the oldest and largest geriatric graduate programs in the country.

HSL also owns and operates Hebrew Rehabilitation Center (HRC) in Roslindale, MA. This campus accommodates a 640-bed chronic care facility and an 80-bed post acute care unit in several connected buildings. This campus provides specialty outpatient clinics and adult day care services.

HSL’s goal is to keep seniors living independently in the community as long as possible.

In the 1970's, HSL developed new housing options enriched with supportive services (including meals, social services, transportation, educational, spiritual and volunteer programming). This development helped shift the field's focus from institutional to community-based models of senior care and services.

Our housing locations include:
  • The Jack Satter House - Revere Beach, Revere, MA
This 266-unit specialized housing complex for people 62 years and older, has 47 efficiency apartments, 202 one-bedroom apartments and 17 two-bedroom apartments. All units have an ocean view and are designed for easy access by handicapped individuals. Each unit features a 24-hour emergency call system. The community provides dining, activities and social services.
  • Simon C. Fireman Community - Randolph, MA.
This 160-unit specialized housing complex is for people 62 years and older and includes 40 efficiency apartments and 120 one-bedroom apartments. The amenities are similar to those at Jack Satter House.
  • Center Communities of Brookline (CCB) - Brookline, MA
Located in the Coolidge Corner area of Brookline, CCB is comprised of three buildings with a total of 517 units of supportive housing for people 62 years and older, with a mix of low, moderate and market rate units and many on-site services.
  • Orchard Cove - Canton, MA
HSL’s award-winning continuing care retirement community (CCRC) is comprised of 227 independent apartments, 24 assisted living units, and a 45-bed Skilled Nursing Center and on-site medical practice staffed by a Harvard-affiliated geriatrician and a certified nurse practitioner.
  • NewBridge on the Charles (NBOC) - Dedham, MA
Opening in the summer of 2009, NBOC is now under construction on the Dr. Miriam and Sheldon Adelson campus. Upon completion, NBOC will be the most comprehensive CCRC in Massachusetts.

NBOC is a planned, 162-acre multigenerational campus along the Charles River in Dedham that will bring together seniors and children in a setting of learning, living and sharing.

NBOC will include: 256 apartments, villas and cottages; 91 assisted living units; and 268 health care units for seniors of all ages and abilities. This campus will also include a complete spectrum of wellness and health care services; cultural and social opportunities; the 400-student K-8 Rashi school; and an environmentally friendly design.
